I am jealous of that trip, watch out for the doggies. Just spoke to a friend on the island and he said they are pretty thick in the sound.

No Doggies

We will only fish bait when appropriate but we also do a bit of lobstah. Doggies make an OK lobstah bait First good use I have ever found for them

Yeah they were thick round Nomans last weekend.

We'll be chuckin a bunch of plugs and trolling both plastic and bait

They even eat friggin eelswhich will on board also

I use to fish up there every year and the last couple years the doggies were so thick you couldn't drop anything down past 4 ft. without them attacking it! I had the best luck around Gay Head & Squibnocket! Both points produced well!

STRIPER SAFARI

This trip was to circumnavigate the Vineyard in search of Strip Bass and stop along the way to fish each storied piece of water. We were to begin by cruising down Buzzards Bay and entering Vineyard Sound through Quick’s Hole and begin at Devils Bridge then off to Noman’s Island circumnavigate that ..run to Squibnocket Point then to Wasque Shoal, hit the Hooter then up Muskeeget Channel and stopping at Thom Shoal, Cape Poque and return fishing the rips of Wreck Shoal, Hedge Fence, Middleground and Half Way Shoal then exit through Woods Hole and return to the marina some 125 miles and 12 hours later.

We failed! When we hit one of our first stops the bite was awesome and the guyz started getting with it. Bluefish, Bass, and one Fluke visited the ice filled fish box on Seaker. We had 40 pounds of ice in the box from the half day and just added another 40 pounds to take care of our catch right and proper. The guyz did a great job of catching many bluefish(which will be turned into lobstah bait) in quest of the bass and they delivered. I kept saying we should leave this place and continue but the bite was hot and they wanted one more drift. We stayed there for better than four hours of non stop wide open bite. The tide finally stopped running and so did the bite. The gang was worn out pure and simple. First statement was Hey Capt. Got any asprin on board my shoulder is smoked. Of course we do and now let’s get this party started. We fished around a great place and found no Joy but no one was complaining as we were trolling and they needed a break. Another stop looked beautiful and Corey took some photo’s which will be shared shortly with you all. More bluefish gave it up and we headed to the North after I declared we couldn’t go east due to time running out on us so we headed back west and north to fish some spots along the way…It became apparent that the gang had really fished hard as the guyz would take a power nap between stops they were getting low on energy.

No problemo! Rare roast beef, baked Virginia Ham, Smoked Turkey, Imported provolone, Onion Rolls, Red Grapes, Apples, Pitted dates, water, ice tea, rootbeer took the edge of the guyz. AM we had Box O Joe and Bagels so we were not about to starve to death.

Couple of pictures excellent early morning sea conditions

We found the birds and bait

We caught

HAPPY FATHERS DAY – LOBSTAH WITH SCARY ROB

I was real sore last night after our marathon trip and took two 800 MG asprins before going down. Don’t know if that is what caused my nightmares or perhaps I was having revelations of what was to become the next chapter in The Ugliest Catch!

Met SR at 0530 tide was falling and one more coffee was the order of the day. It’s Sunday..note to self go with SR in the afternoon after the weekly wash is complete. The fog was thick but not as thick as the aroma of lobstah bait, low tide in a salty atmosphere and Rob. The fog hung over like a Steven King novel. It was bad and soon to turn worse. While we stated the engine on the boat with no name SR waned about how bad it was running. How’d he know..or better yet… what had he done since we last took her out together two days ago. We left the slip in pea soup fog and began a slow run to the fatherest pot. Rob kept saying speed it up and let’s see what she’ll do? I replied I can barely see in front of the boat, we have no radar, no gps and a compass that is not readable. I’m navigating by dead reckoning and brail. When I finally see a small opening I hit her throttle and she acted as if I had been caught cheatin on her…nope this was as warm as she would get. So we motored on at breaknect pace of 5-7 knots while SR began a rant of what had he done now! Freakin boat piece of this and that and he had mixed the oil in the spare tank which now meant taking Tom’s boat which is a four stroker out of the equation. We brought this big girl to the dance and we had to spend the night.

When it goes bad in SR’s world it get real ugly! I kept talking to her saying be nice to me I have never taken your name in vain…We got almost done when we went under a bridge to get to one of his secret spots and I felt something come across my face…FISHING LINE!. I grabbed the line to try and clear it as I reached for the throttle to put her in neutral….nope she stayed in gear as I reached for my knife to cut the line free before the had to have hooks on the end of this came in contact with me and I severed up some lucky bridge fisherman an Italian trophy. Presto change o sorry buddy but it’s you or me and I cut the line free. I now know how to call myself various body parts in a different language. For big freakin jerk push one! And I am pleased to report he know knows how to say other expressions in Italian, English, and Spanglish! Now what is up with the boat that will not go into neutral. We have forward and we have stalled! I tell SR one more pot and we are heading home. He says how can you possibly bring this into a marina with no neutral or reverse…My answer is simple watch me. We cleared the bridge head into a strong current and I see an opening dead ahead. I declare this our new slip for today!

We came in just find.

So I’m back to finish up a few things n the boat. Scary Rob is down beating on his boat.

We did very well and I believe everyone had a great time

Until next tide

Seaker Out!

Nice going Seaker.
If your people are tired and sore from catching, and had a great time - total success. Circumnavigating the vineyard for Bass did sound fun though.

Here's my quickie report. Friday - sucked. Saturday -Very Good. Sunday - Killer. I'll try and post some pics later.
