This video gives a hint of what the boat can do and what she was built for. Our season is short and our weather is so unpredictable up here in the Northeast.
When the boat was built I wanted it to truly be a vessel that could make it out and fish in big seas and especially be a potential tournament winner.
I also wanted her to provide those that sail on her a sense of safety and she does just that. You don't see stuff flying all over the place or the boat being thrown off course.
The seas really start to kick up and I didn't bother to post the rain as it was coming down but take note of how uncomfortable the crew was.
The song is "About to Rage" from Government Mule. I attend this concert at what was called the Tweeter Center. Yep 6th row in front. They opened for the Allman Brothers.
I was on this trip. That thunderstorm was we punched thru was nasty. You couldn't make it out on the video, but less than a mile off the starboard side was a giant funnel cloud lowering within feet from the surface. Wind shrieking thru the tower, sideways rain, downbursts blowing the tops of the waves... you name it. Seas were easily 6 feet, steep and confused, with much larger breaking rollers mixed in. At no point did the boat become "uncomfortable", let alone any cause for alarm.
Best part is we came out the other side, got the gear back in the water, and had a triple hook-up on yellowfin. Got one in the boat, one broke off alongside before we could gaff it, and the other let go early on.
