Decided to join John Bunar and "go to school" for a day with a proven master. Caught some great 2-4 pound bluefish on the flats in Duxbury Bay for bait. Set up on the middle southern edge of Stellwagon at around 10 a.m. Radio chatter indicated an earlier bite that was now "off" but some decent fish, including a few keepers (+73) had been taken. We were optimistic about the post 2:30 bite. Bluefish and bass dined eagerly on our bluefish offerings so after 2 hours we pulled the hook and moved west along the edge and then slightly north on the bank to 100'. We re-anchored and settled into more blues and bass. at 2:20 the 3 boats around us were into fish. One hook pull, one 65" release, one 74.5 inch keeper. We were sure it was our turn but it was not to be. We had one fish come up and take a swing at the kite bait but never grabbed it. lines out at 5:00. Wind was blowing an easy 20 knots and seas were 3-4 and sloppy. John is obviously as knowledgeable as they get, so our experience was a great one. Looking forward to getting out again and applying what we learned.
