buddy of mine went out there Saturday am, 6am to early afternoon. Very quiet. Few boats, few fish. Only saw a couple tuna breaking, never got close. They pulled some bars, drifted some live macks. Only pulled up some dogfish, a large striper and a mega bluefish. My buddy is new to this but had onboard some guys that knew the area and have caught tuna there before.

I started on SWC saturday morning. Got there at 4:30 am (foolish), there wasn't a piece of bait, bird or whale to be found. It was a complete ghost town, very eerie for the SWC Water was also 72 degrees. Trolled bars for 2 hours then picked up and moved east. Got into busting fish on the east side. Threw live pogies into busting fish and they were not interested. Dogfish galore below the tuna. Stripers and dogs made quick work of our pogies.

Heard on the radio that well east was the place to be. Due to time constraints had to head in at 10:30am

    Waste of gas and pogies.

Ran out to the SWC and slightly north of that yesterday (7/11) for the 11:00 a.m. slack on my buddy's boat. Trolled for two hours, saw one whale, no busting fish, very little chatter on the radio.

Tried jigging the bottom and foul hooked two dogfish. There were two headboats about 3-4nm north of us. Didn't have the motivation to run up there and see what they were doing. Pulled the plug at 1:30 and went bass fishing.

    Going east tomorrow.

    the bank

went out sunday am to the northwest corner.. On the way out about 1 mile from the bank, 240ft of water, found some breaking fish that werent hungry and dissappeared in a half hour or so. Moved to the corner and was very confused as there were only 4 or 5 boats around??? No action for the rest of the day, pretty dead out there.

550 lb bluefin on a handline

    bank 7/10

headed out early. Made it to bank (LL's) about 5:30. About to put 4th line out and short rigger got hit. Fish missed. cranked hard and fish was back. Took two more swipes before he crushed it and was on. He fought hard. Took about 200 yards of mono and 100 of backing at 23 lbs before stopping. Got him to boat and did not look over the size limit. Figured about 70" or so. Tough to watch the fish swim away. Gotta say I am not a fan of catch and release. It was great to get the skunk off the boat for the new year, but probably will not be doing as much tuna fishing unless more reports of smaller fish show up.

Once the clouds cleared and sun was out fish were all over the bank and off the west edge. Trolled bars through massive schools of breaking fish for the next 3 hours before heading home. Schools would not go down even when trolling right through them. Get there early before the sun is up and hope for a good chop on the water and you may get lucky.
