Got the invite call Tuesday night, from Captain Kevin, to fish on his new 28' Carolina Classic [ SIMON SEZ ] for Wednesday morning. Didn't take long to say YES...... Started the day from the marina, in some prety thick pea soup fog going through the Cape Cod Canal. Finally broke when we started to aproach the Sandwich Marina at the East end. Upon reaching the CC Buoy, we dropped our lines to come tight within seconds, with all the live bait ( Mackerel ) that you would have killed for a month ago, for Stripers or Tuna. We stayed till we filled up the live well, and off to the Bank we went. A few short minutes later, on one of the smoothest rides of the season, we were at the Bank, with TUNA breaking in every direction. I honestly can say that I saw fish that looked anywhere from 50lbs to 400lbs breaking all over. lines in on the corner very quickly, and within 3 minutes we were TIGHT...zzzzzzzzz.......zzzzzzzzzzz........zzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzz......3 long runs and I was strapped to the biggest fish of my life... ( thus Far ) lolol......after a short 12 minute short fight I was the winner..... a little kaos on the transom and we had a 68 1/2 fish with a girth that I don't think he could have put one more sand eel into.... What a fatty to say the least....OK bare with me here, but I am being told this fish was in the range of 180 lbs to maybe 190 lbs...... All I know is that I was connected to some awsome power for a short few minutes, and thought that he was going to show me who the REAL boss is on a couple of ocasions. What ever the actual weight was, it doesn't matter or compare to the good friends that I have made here on this site. Thanks Captain Kevin... A lifetime fish for sure. Good times, Good Friends, = good fishing, and I am looking forward to another encounter of the best kind.... (Frienedship) By the way the fish was released to fight another angler someday.
