its been slow over there for 10 days now. the good bite before and just after the storm has gone....![]()
Not much happened for us today. Saw some SBFT splashing mid bank, east side, early. Over by PHB, another came straight up outta the water about 20 yds. off my port bow. Saw a blue downeast boat with a BIG fish roped off the transom and I think Tuname had some luck too. Covered a lot of ground but just couldn't find a bite. After a gloomy and choppy start in the morning, it was a sunny, smooth and fast ride back to the barn. All in all, way better than a day at work.![]()
Agree as above, saw a few whales and birds around SWC and continued on to PHB Monday AM. Life was similar. Lines in with live Pogies about 645 AM 140 ft water just north of PHB. Had some family members/friends that were a little older with us (72, 75, and 82 years old) so we decided to keep it light and fish the Penn 16s. Slow trolled/bumped in and out for about 2 hours before coming tight on 55 incher that fortunately made it into the boat about 30 minutes later. The Penn 16 made for a lightweight gear battle that fun and educational. I was very happy with the 80lb Momoi/100LB JB hollowcore line combination. The 16s drag and overall performance were stellar, but was not impressed with my rods ability to lift the fish. Need to buy/build lightweight stick with soft tip but some real backbone to help finish the battle a little quicker (any suggestions?). Offloaded extra Pogies to fellow SWS anglers out there-hope they helped.
Fish are not coming all that easy....Way to go!

Left North River pre-sunrise. No one at SW corner.. I mean no one. 15 mins of treking the edge for bait and nothing, so off to PH & Golf Balls. Flatlined 4 Macks till mid-day. No luck... One huge splash about 1.5 kilometer out. Too small for a whale, and there were no whales that were seen/heard. Too big for small/medium Tuna. ...caught one bluedog... Slow day, but just beautiful out there...
