    Stellwagen Bank Saturday...end of season

Headed out Sunday looking for Tuna. Didn't see any signs of charlie the entire day. Covered Water from Peaked Hill Bar to Middle Bank and far far out east. Plenty of birds and bait in the water column. After the day decided to end the 2011 season. The best part of the day was early morning bout 4 miles west of SWC spotted some dolphin. Headed over to them and they started jumpin all around the boat. Kicked the boat into gear going about 5knots and they started to swim with the boat. Couldn't even count how many there were. Took some video, you can see the dolphin more near the end of the video when im reaching off the bow with my phone camera. I started to reach down at them and you can see them turning sideways and looking up. Incredible animals. They followed the boat for ten minutes before I slowly sped up. Even after speeding up they tried to stay with the boat and some came about 3 feet out of the water in the wake of my boat....to anybody else whos sticking with it out there good luck and tight lines.

We had pretty much the same experience on Saturday. We spotted a pod of dolphins near the old BE buoy in the AM and that was the only surface action we saw all day. Caught a bunch of cod on the bank but they were all shorts so we headed way East too. There were probably a half dozen boats out east where we were, but they were moving around so I don't think they were doing very much. Not quite the way we wanted to end our season but that's it, we're done. We had a good year and we're looking forward next year. Happy Holidays everyone.

Love it when they do that. I've been on a few boats where dolphins have come to play off the bow wave underway, even going pretty fast. Amazing creatures. Wish we could train them to lead us to the tuna!
