Just found this on another forum:

It is true that someone brought one in!! It was not a mistake on his part... he was announcing on the radio that he had caught a great white.... but all of us listening thought he had released it!! no one thought he was bringing it to the dock.... even at the captain's meeting it was re-iterated multiple times that this was illegal.
Not only was he arrested, his boat seized by the DEC, charged $25,000 fine but he was also charged with endangering the welfare of a minor because he brought the fish on the boat with his 6 year old on the boat!
I'm not sure what this guy was thinking or why he really didn't realize how serious the implications of his actions were...... but what about the others on his boat?? Wasn't he fishing with anyone who had the sense to clue him in??

Pete, Obviously some people are that frigging stupid.

If the story is true and he and his crew knew what they had and brought it in anyway, they deserve everything they get thrown at them and then some. From the law, to the tree huggers, and the entire fishing community.
