    Squid bars with birds

Just wondering if anyone has noticed a difference when using regular spreader bars or bars with splash birds on them?

Im going to build some with 5" birds on them as I made some slug-go bars with them on and they ride so nicely and don't bury or walk at all.

Never tried it before but it seems like it would work.

Caught blues and bass on spreaders with birds. No tuna on any bar yet.

They are catching many fish out east of chatham with them. Most of my fish this year have been on a brown/grn splash bar long rigger. You can run them really far back. They work really well on the smaller boats with low riggers.

If you mean replacing the first squid on the outer lines, yes,it works pretty good.Leave 3/4 or 1 inch of room for the bird to work, dont crimp it up tight to the bar. The spray cans meant for plastic lawn furniture sticks pretty good if you need "custom" colors.

Thanks for the replies guys. I made a black one and a killer tomato one and we are headed out at 0400 in the AM to test them out. Wish me luck.

I have small birds on my mini green machine bar and love it. I have caught yellow fin tuna and mahi on it.

    Good luck,

Im talking about the bar going right through the bird. Play action makes them I think.

Just started fishing splash bars in the last few trips and have gone 3/6 in hook ups. I never before fished these kind of bars until I fished with Capt. Eric Stewart on the Tuna Fever. He made me a believer in these bars. I am able to run them farther back on my riggers and the stay up on the water better.

    I'm a believer in them
