    Spearfishing in MA

Anyone know where I can find the Regs? Are Stripers and Blackfish legal to shoot? I looked into this last year and it was prohibited in MA. I saw a few guys out in Rockport over the weekend and they said the law has changed?

Could not find updated 2010 regs, but as of last year you still could not take/shoot stripers in MA:

Maybe give the office headquarters a call and ask?

I bought one this spring to start shooting locally around the rockpiles in Buzzards Bay and have been able to nail some fluke and tautog. Hoping to drop in on a high flyer sometime this summer in the canyons for some mahi. If your ever on the Cape give me a shout and we can try to get out.

Still cant spear stripers in MA or CT. Think your good on the tog and fluke. RI knows how to do things and everything is fair game.

On the way in from Hudson last summer we stopped at every high flyer and a big weather buoy. Shot 6 mahi and a big trigger.. Its a little eerie floating around out there when all you see below you is blue.

I agree, I head down RI way almost every weekend. So I guess I will be Tog hunting up here when I can't make the run. Thanks!

I free dive in RI and CT. There is a loop hole if you don't know, that allows one to shoot a fish in waters other than CT and bring them back to a CT port. A few years ago I thought you couldn't bring a striper into CT waters with a hole in it. I have since had discussions with DEP officials to guarantee I will not get ticketed in CT. I now trailer to a CT launch, shoot in RI and then come back to CT.

I would think vis will be pretty good. There hasn't been any major rain storms or wind recently. Tomorrow will probably be even better. Let me know how you do. Water is too warm for me now, I only have a 5 mm suit and sweat my balls off in water this warm. Good luck!
