Fished yesterday South of MTK. No life all morning in 69 degree water but managed a small BFT on a purple squid daisy chain in the prop wash.
Set up for sharks with no wind. had to bump the boat to get a slick going. It took about an hour until a big mako swam up the slick and took a the bait on a 30. About a 40 min. fight and released it. Fish was about half the length of my 21 foot boat. Im guessing 350 lbs. What was more interesting was it had about an 11/0 hook in its mouth (still shiny) and a severe fresh gash on its head and a smaller gash in between the dorsal and tail section. Im thinking it gained its freedom earlier or yesterday.
77 degree clean water at CIA grounds in the afternoon on the way in with bait showering all over! Awesome day!
