Left Block Island this morning for the hot bite going on at the Dump. What a difference two days make!!! People were slaying 'em the day before yesterday, at both southwest ad southeast corners. Fishing was slow....we got three small yellowfins and one gaffer mahi. The yellows ate green stuff exclusively. The mahi went for the rainbow bars. We lost a second mahi at the boat, it's the one pictured in the water. Wasn't a great day, but, it could have been worse!!!
I wanted to show people just how big a twenty six foot boat the Ridgeway is...check out the photo from the tower. I have run 30 + foot boats that didn't look that big.
Great pics Steve, boat does look much bigger than 26. I actually ran into someone who said they know you, he had his kids in Stonington for the weekend starting yesterday I think. I was also going to do that run but heard some not so good reports from Tues. and Wed. That mahi looks tasty!!
The boat ran great (it is underwheeled though, so slower), it's a lovable boat. The twelve foot beam makes it a BEAST for a 26 footer
The boat's name? Storm Petrel, of course. I don't do a whole lot of talking on the radio. We started at the southwest corner, worked our way out to the lanes, and then over toward the southeast corner. And your boat name? ( in case I heard you...)
Sushi, I talked to two different people, IN PERSON, who slayed 'em Tuesday. I heard one or two guys who did better Thurs, too. But both of the guys who were out at the dump Tues limited out on the little yellows, and caught nice mahi.
