Crab mustard is good
Slow out east
In a classic, "You should have been here earlier in the week. This bite has really slowed" type of day we struck out around Crab yesterday. The fleet saw BFT busting in 2's and 3's every 45 minutes or so. Up, down, gone....
We had one change course into our spread, hit three different bars and never got tight. Oh well. That's tuna fishing. Tough to swallow on a slow day though...
It is sort of hard to call it a bad day when you take 5 early teenage kids out to see airborne tuna, a few basking sharks and a big porbeagle up close... and even though the whale show was pretty weak by Chatham standards, to a newbie, it is still amazing.
New moon? Who knows? Good day on the water. Much better than today. Got to the mouth of the harbor for a Hadley's Harbor picnic day and the boat just stalled.... fuel pump. Back at it later in the week. Certainly could have been worse. The tow from the BC bouy to Falmouth would have really stunk.

Weaky wacker
Yesterday was my first trip out east and as Mike said, it was a 'you should have been here yesterday' kind of day. However, since it was my first attempt at navigating around Monomoy, I was glad to be making the run in relatively calm seas and very clear conditions. I've read about the fog and challenging sea conditions this area is known for, so after studying the chart and adding at least one track on the plotter builds confidence for the next trip, which will likely not be as ideal as yesterday. Not that one trip makes me an expert, but it's a start.

I think Admin is going to let me have this space
On our run back from the canyons we stopped by the BB to take a sniff around. It was a pot about to boil over. Big marks, tons of bait, whales and not a boat around.
