    Simon Sez doubles up!

Left Bourne at 5:15 with some of my best friends on the boat headed for the bank, arrived at the SEC at 6:45 to find it very quiet, no birds, whales or tuna to be seen! I was about to make a move when i went up in the tower for one last look, finally i spotted a whale around 8:30 way off towards the NE. I decided to keep the boat headed in that direction. After a while i started seeing a fish or two here and there "flying" out of the water, i mean wayyy out of the water, i haven't seen them come out of the water that high! Then there were whales, at first just a single here and there then we found the groups. After that we found the groups with busting tuna with them(joy)! We continued to troll with the tuna busting, whales everywhere and not many boats around! Then it happened, we trolled by a pod of whales, all of a sudden tuna everywhere with the whales and then......Holy $hit they're in the spread, flying out of the water......In the spread holy $hit, they were small(30lbers)! Then Bang left long goes, left short goes and we are tight on both! The usual Chaos ensues for around the first 10 minutes while we clear lines and get settled in. The anglers are belted and strapped in for the fight! We thought we were getting the 30lbers we saw, were we wrong! After switching sides and each angler going over and under the other we managed to get the 1st fish boat side and lip gaffed, then brought on board for a measurement, 74 inches!! Tail roped and bled for the first fish in the boat in a while(whole other story)! Now the other angler is on the fish, this one is CRAZY! It simply will not give up, it goes from one side of the boat to the other for another half hour. We finally get it to the boat, get the gaff and see that it is a slot fish and needs to go back. This fish was not ready to go anywhere near the boat and with my buddy Jack holding the leader he made one last psycho move and the leader snapped and he swam away! What a day, doubles and a 74" in the boat! Back at the dock at 2pm, beer in hand and loving life........ Hopefully this is what the rest of the season will be like!

Not sure i understand what a slot fish is for you as you must be a comm to take a 74"-- Slot fish is only for rec's--

Great job on the fish anyways....
