Side Scan on the Bank...
Just curious, does anyone use the Humminbird side scan out on the bank for locating schools of tuna?
I'm in the need for a new fish finder and some places tell me it will work fine, others tell me that it will only work up to 100 feet because it has no dual frequency. I'm looking at that and the Lowrance and trying to make a decision. I do like the idea of side scan and think it would work great for jigging ect...
Thanks

I think Admin is going to let me have this space
We had the humminbird side scanner on our old center console and it was useless for anything over 20 ft deep. It really is made for bass fishing in a pond. You can see trees and stuff like that. All you see on the bank is sand.
The real side scanners are the expensive lowrance models.

Lowrance just came out with theirs and from what I hear its unproven yet in the deep salt, but they do look real good.
Humminbird has come a long way, but I can't find out if it works in deeper water, I know its proven to be very effective in salt by people I know, but mainly 50 feet and less...
I did find this on the hull truth, this guy seems to like his alot and says it works fine in deep water... I have a call in to humminbird and email with no response yet..
