Shoe sighting
Got a call from Shoe who was bringing a new 31 Albermarle up from Freeport NY yesterday. Around noon he checked it they were rounding Montauk and headed up to B Bay for the night. I had just come in from a quick run with Rippy and knew it was sporty out there. I advised to keep his head down and not to worry about timing if he was going to be in after dark I would take Seaker out and show him the channel back. Made arrangements at the marina to put him beside us and dinner was out plan.
Got back from Ride with Rippy...dang that ride is fast...as he says with a little wind under her skirt well with 3-5's he found a breeze alright
Ran over to another marina to check out a possible delivery and do some training wit the new owner of another we delivered...ran back to my home port and saw Shoe pullin into the fuel dock...perfect timing.
While at the fuel dock we noticed lobster pot line flowing from the stern…a quick check determined it was one of my lines…from a missing pot…. what are the odds that a buddy would snag the line….anyway after some consternation as to what to do..I was ready to take the plung into the 56 degree water hey it’s my stuff that’s there…But Shoe tuned into Spider man and with a boat hook and some cheering he got it off….
The new ride is sweet and the forecast is perfect with 5-10 Kts out of the north and clearing sky's. The gang will hit the bank and fish their way home...
Last night we hit Charles place and woffed down all the cape cod can give up this morning I checked on em and made a quick coffeee run...
Don't worry mom they'll be home late afternoon with fresh cod and haddock for yeah!
Great to have him over in the neighborhood last nite
Thanks for the hospitality and the help from the Cape! It sure was nice to meet up with you and Debbie on Saturday. I'm still drooling over the fried seafood basket from Charles place...mmmm mmmm good.
The ride yesterday was a 1-2 foot chop the entire way... much better than the 8-10 foot breakers that hammered us at Block on Saturday.
We stopped and made a few drifts on stellwagon with some small cod, cusk, and scalpin to show for it. At one point we got hit part way down by a Mack, but it must have been a stray because we couldn't locate a school on the sounder. It looked healthy out there- lots of nice looking marks and tons of birds everywhere. I took a few pictures (that I'll post later) of the sounder as we made a few drifts... it looked good to say the least.
Boy that 31 is a beast. I think we're going to have a great season on that thing. The harder you run it, the better it performs, and those cats purrrrrrrrr.
Thanks again for the hospitality, we'll talk soon.
