Leaving Boston Harbor w some youngsters, without great odds of catching tuna as in past years I want to put them on some decent size fish... How far realistically do you need to go out before putting out a chum slick and attracting Blue dogs?

I wouldn't bother unless your well east of the bank in 250-300 feet of water. Anywhere else and you will be wasting your time. I went last Sunday and had a blast. It started slow but we kept with it and around noon time the sharks started coming in one after another. We caught and released 10 and 6 of those were on spinning gear. Find a spot by yourself and don't forget to jig for groundfish while your at it.

Another question along these lines, How keyed into temperature breaks are sharks north of the Cape?
I wouldn't be to concerned with temperature breaks but it might be better to find an area with some structure nearby.
250 feet of water east of the bank where ever and u should be good...headin out there tommorow again for some sharking
Really B buoy off Hull? Between the above reply's about having to go East of the bank to see any action to this reply about B buoy, I really wonder do they move about Mass bay with any common occurrence or no..?
i got a blue this past saturday on the large end of the scale for a blue shark in 90ft on the SW corner, thats the closest I have ever picked one up, so not sure about Hull
lots of sharks yesterday just off the northern edge of the bank mostly blues but heard of a couple of makos and i have seen blues just east of the b bouy lastyear
How do you rig up heavy spin rods for these sharks? I neeed to feel the tug and the tunas are not cooperating for the run and gun style fishing i do. Thinking of giving sharkin a try.
Could you share your setup for them?
Also, what do you do for chum/bait. 5 gal frozen chum and a few bluefish do the trick?
Thanks
