SE Corner on Sunday
Left Green Harbor at 3:45 a.m. for a smooth ride to the South East. We were first to the area, had lines in at 4:45 and soon found ourselves surrounded by whales in all directions. Bait, birds and whales were as thick as we've ever seen but no signs of Tuna on the surface. Despite the "fishy" area, we trolled for 2.5 hours without a hit. Slowly more boats appeared and radio chatter was the same. Nothing. At 7:20 our pink splash bar was hammered by an airborn tuna and we were off to the races. 20 minutes later we had color and a 58" estimate along the side of the boat. We decided to take it and it measured 58.5"...doesn't get any closer than that. She was fat as well. Trolled for 2 more hours and then headed to the barn. Not sure if the afternoon bite improved any but it sounded SLOW in the morning.
