Saturday SWC...someone had a close call with a whale

I was able to get a quick picture of this whale breaching next to a guys boat. I don't think he even had any idea how close it came, he was casting the other way.

I wish I got a second picture of the splash.

I had a buddy of mine taking a leak off the swim platform when the same thing happened to us. He pissed all over his shoes. I laughed my butt off!!!

I was out Friday and had them within 10 yards of my 18' Grady CC. Motor off and just hoping they didn't get any closer.

Anyone ever been hit by one?

I saw someone tag a whale last year on the SWC. A big sea ray that was out for a whale watch decided that he should haul ass rodney dangerfield style across the SWC. You saw him go up an over a whale and this disgusting gurgling sound his motor made as his props tore up the whale.

Ouch, that would constitute a hit for sure... I have just never heard of one bumping a boat sitting still. I believe there is a 100' min motoring distance. That is where I shut it down and started drifting in toward the whales.

I had a baby whale hanging around the boat for a half hour one day fishing with my wife and son. he was bumping my lower end of the outboard (shut off) and sticking his head up looking in the boat we could have touched him. I kept waiting for his momma to show up pissed but didn't happen. He finally sounded and we didn't see him again that day. Scotty.

My buddies 31 Duffy had one hit the side of his boat on Sat. on the SWC.

I had one within 20ft along side me with it's mouth wide open feeding.

a whale went rogue last year and rammed a couple boats withing a weeks period
