Saturday above West Atlantis

Fished that finger of warn water pushing up from West Atlantis Saturday. The temp break on the eastern side was amazing, a sharp 5 degree break that ran north to south for several miles and allowed us to weave from the cool to the warm over the span of a couple of hundred yards. A 300 lb class blue marlin on a black/red jet, decent longfin albacore all on green machines, a 35 lb YFT on a purple bar, and dozens of very willing mahi on the flyers. And, a waterspout that came out of what appeared to be a non-threatening looking cloud only a couple of miles away. That cloud developed into a series of thunderheads that kept expanding behind us, a reminder to me to trust nothing with weather, no matter how beautiful it was out there. Not another boat in sight all day.

Thanks! We went back and forth about heading to Veatch instead, but based on fuel predictions I was not comfortable with the extra 40 or so miles. We all thought that it was pretty strange that there was not another soul there, did you make it out?

stayed north - fishing w/. a better looking, albeit less skilled crew than normal.

what happens on the boat stays on the boat. Good stuff though and we did eat sushi last night, marlin or not...

hey kev fished the same break sunday, reading your report was like watching a rerun movie exact sam e location exact same results albacore caught on the west bank up top 35lb yellow same area 630ft of water only diff is we not get a size on the marlin that destroyed our spread! only one other boat out there.

We were there Wed./Thur......found some bait in the warm side of the break in 900-1100 ft and picked away at yellows to fifty pounds. Took nine home, released the rats, and baited up 20 mahi. Good trip!
