Saltwater Fishing License

There is a push on by many States to implement a Saltwater Fishing License. This was brought on by the Feds looking to keep track of how many Sport and Game Fish are being taken, like Stripers. The Feds are looking for a 2009 start. I lived in California and we were required to have a Saltwater License back and before the 70's. I don't know where the moneys went?? I then moved to Maryland where we were required to have a Saltwater Fishing License to fish for Stripers in the Chesepeake Bay or the tidal Potomac River. In Maryland however, we had the option of purchasing a Saltwater Fishing License for the Boat, $40. This was on my own Private, Non-Commercial Boat. I received a State Decal to place next to my State Registration numbers on the boat. This would entitle anyone on board to fish license fee. When I had visitors or an occasional fishing friend go out with me we didn't have to worry about fishing licenses. BUT, I was required to record all Stripers "caught and kept" by date, size and location of catch. "Catch and Release" not counted. I would submit this report at renewal time. This was popular.

Maine is pushing for a Saltwater Fishing License now, to enacted in July of 2009. I'm pushing to add this option to that requirement.

here all starting it. What a joke here in ct ri and mass where you can fish 3 states all at once. One drift now ill be needing 3 licences. WHAT A FRIGGIN JOKE. The only one who makes out is the general fund. But yet the anti's dont kill the sharks. This past week at montauk. Give me a break. We are paying for them.
