A fisherman fell overboard while out lobstering out of NARRAGANSETT, R.I. -- The Coast Guard says it is suspending its search for a fisherman from Rhode Island missing in the waters off Long Island. Victor Blanco, 37, of Providence, fell off the "Barbara Ann" Tuesday night, about 95 miles south of Montauk New York. The 76-foot fishing vessel is based in Point Judith. Crew members say they saw Blanco fall overboard and threw a life ring to him, but it landed out of his reach.
The Coast Guard says Blanco was not wearing a life jacket or flotation device.
He was setting fishing gear when he fell off the boat. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
That is just awful. Prayers sent from New Hampshire. Let's hope that he went to the big fishing grounds in the sky, where the winds are always calm and the traps are always full.
