Then why do you guys continue to log on this and many other sites geared towards sport fishing? If commercial fishing is your gig then why not live and fish in secrecy like so many of your kind. I can't figure the logic as to why you would even waste your time coming here after stating and agreeing to a comment like that?
Incase you havent noticed, I never post a thing about what I am seeing or what I am catching, other than a few pictures or general comments months after the fact. I come on sites like this for the same reason most people do- to shoot the shit, waste time, etc. I also come on these sites to get guys to help on issues that affect them, such as the herring one.
I was commenting on the fact that people on these sites who have nothing to do with commercial fishing are posting threads telling everyone who can read about good bites going on for giants. 99% of the time reports on here are about small tuna and I could care less about those reports, the one I was referring to was the one about what was happening off Chatham last week. I dont even go chumming so that does not even effect me, but it definitely effects others. Whether I am here or not, that thread would have been posted so I dont see what your comment has to do with anything. Do you disagree that the internet kills secrets?
Bottom line, Meltdown, is if you dont like my posts, dont read them. I could care less what you think, to be honest.

If I may add one more thing here. Sure 99% of the reports here are about small fish, and I could care less as well, but you left out one other point. 99% of the people here are rec and wont even be involved in these "giant" bites so why even talk about it and potentially ruin it for those who can be involved.
I couldn't agree more that the internet is probably the fastest way a bite gets killed.
Never mind who says what on the radio or who sees who where, there always has to be someone that comes home, jumps right online and has to get a little chest pounding in to gain some bragging rights.
If I may take you back a month or so ago. Some clown had to jump on here and say, "I flew over the PH area to chatham...more small fish than you could possibly imagine." Sure thats a small fish report, however the next day we were going to PH anyways to fly some blues where no one had been fishing for months and couldn't even get a line in the water due to the internet pack.
I enjoy passing the time reading this site and jumping in where I see fit but I dont know how anyone can say that the internet does not kill a bite.
I dont get when somebody types a thread saying CHATHAM LIT UP TODAY and then informs everyone. The people that really deserve to be down there are already there, why tell other millions of people.Internet does kill Secrets....
And the person that made the thread actually has a clue about giant fishing
To bad that doesnt have anything to do with this and what I catch doesnt really need to be revealed to the internet. Also dont expect me to to tell everyone the lat and long and then proceed how I rigged my pink sluggos. Any more questions?
...Also let me state a perfect made up example. Say you and your friend go out cod fishing. You do well on a certain piece of bottom then your friend goes on the internet and tells people where you guys were fishing. You go back the next day and I gaurenfuckintee there will be shit loads of boats on the fish you found. Internet kills Secrets
Though it's not "high profile" some of this conservational energy should be targeted toward ICAAT and overseas longlining and siening in the med. The impact a few hundred sportys have on the general population doesnt even compare with this stuff. Sure we do need to set an example, and we do. Our laws are much more stringent than anywhere else around the world except canada and maybe Italy. And one fish isn't much considering how many fish are out there this year. I have a video coming from the 2009 charter season in which we released most of our fish caught, that documents just how many fish are around this year...hundreds of thousands. Ask any spotter pilot. We need to show ICAAT this stuff to substantiate the numbers of fish or the quota is gonna vaporize. Bitching on this site from an anonomous keyboard is next to useless. If you want to make a difference, write a letter to congress! Talk to Greg Skomal. Make a tv show called "Tuna Wars" and terrorize the seiners in the med with stink bombs and dead pogies. Catch a shitload of fish and show the feds there are plenty out there...which there are... You keep wining about fish stocks, then you can kiss whats left of "the dream" goodbye.
Beating up on the guy who fishes on his Grady White 5 times a year just because he gets excited about catching a rat is ridiculous. The real heavy hitters are ALL out fishing right now in 6 to 8's. Theyre not worried about sporty's catching fish. And looking at the weekend forcast...they dont have to worry![]()
