    Rod Leash Recomendation

I'm looking for recommendations on what guys are using as rod leashes for 80W size setups and up. I have bent butt rods and always fight the fish from swivel rod holders mounting in the front and rear corners of a center console.

    Thanks!

make your own, learn how to do an eye splice and buy a length of 3/8" ( about 5 or 6 ft/leash) just splice a loop in one end to hitch to a cleat, splice a snap clip/carabiner to the other and your set

Old Rock Climbing slings and caribiners.... I wouldn't want to take a 30 foot fall on these, but they are enough to hold a rod if needed.

I have seen a 70 go overboard on SEBwhen attached to a store bought leash from a big name manufacturer. The leash's stitching failed in the pinch. Forensic examination revealed a single line of stitching.

All *my* leashes are 4-8' lengths of either 1/4" or 3/8" three strand line. Two splices and your all set for life...

    I use these: http://www.basspro.com/Offshore-Angl...03461/-1568574

Haven't had to test one yet, but they are inexpensive, reasonably well made, have good stitching, and the clips are stainless. I know how to splice just fine, but when I saw these for sale I figured it was worth it. I stuff them into the bag that holds my harness.

    I've got a bunch I made up.
Pot warp with a good quality carabiner, got a few different lengths. They work fine and rods are not going anywhere.
A bud I fish with spent a bit more $ and got these and I have to say they are pretty nice.

Thanks guys. I was looking at those nylon straps thinking they might be an upgrade. I like the idea of coiling down to 5ft. but I think I'll go with what is cheap and safe.
