Fishing Report
July 13, 2011
FISHING REPORT --- July 13, 2011
STRIPED BASS --- Live bait is still racking up some impressive sized bass, but the bait is still tough to find. There's a couple of schools outside the Connecticut River towards Westbrook but they're not anchored. Some anglers are successfully resorting to porgies. Hatchetts has been good drifting eels and still is having some surface action with school bass. The Race has some small to medium bass.
BLUEFISH --- Blues are in the Race and Plum Gut but you don't have to travel that far. The mouth of the River has some and same at Long Sand Shoal. They're more concentrated at West Rip and Southwest Reef.
Snappers have started averaging 3-4"
FLUKE --- Getting some good feedback on the mouth of the Connecticut River with a doormat caught every few days. Also some similar action at Soundview. You can only fish the River when the boat traffic is low, forget trying on the weekends.
The traveling report favors the South Shore of RI towards Nebraska Shoal.
PORGIES --- Most reports coming back have been positive on most local reefs with some big sizes.
BLACKFISH --- No one is talking.
BLUE CRABS --- Thanks for the reports everyone has emailed us. The action has picked up this week with both the Connecticut and Oyster Rivers doing well.
