FISHING REPORT --- October 7, 2011
NEW HOURS
Sat --- 5am-5pm
Sun -- 5am-4pm
Mon-Fri -- 6am - 6pm
STRIPED BASS --- It's been a lackluster week for reports since most boaters have blackfish on the brain. We haven't heard from the Race so that info on what's normally a good October spot is lacking. We had some good and poor reports from Long Sand Shoal.
Montauk had another good week for both the boats and shore bound. Mullet and baby weakfish have along the shore.
The RI shore has had another decent week with small to medium sized bass, but don't look for daytime blitzes. Most bass have been caught at night.
BLUEFISH --- Even the black fishermen have been seeing blues on most every reef. Chunkers at the mouth of the Connecticut River are still scoring. Long Sand Shoal still has a good slug of choppers. Again Watch Hill has had big blues for the land bound.
PORGIES --- Porgy fishing season has been extended to December 31st, with the same size and bag limits. We've had very good reports coming from Hatchetts, Bartletts, Cranes as well as the blackfish crowd have some good incidental catches which they can eat this year.
BLACKFISH --- The season opener last week end went very well for those that dodged the winds. Reports have been very good all week with the best coming from the reefs near New London. Shallower water is doing better.
The Rivers End / Fishing Factory 3 Blackfish Contest gets underway Saturday, October 1st. You can register and weigh in at either shop.
FALSE ALBACORE --- Last week we couldn't find them. Well they went way west in Long Island Sound. They're back east but not in the numbers of a few weeks ago. They've been at Watch Hill, Race, Montauk and both ends of Fishers.

BONEFISH --- No they're not running in Long Island Sound, but we're putting together a trip to Acklins
Island in the Bahamas for February 2012. Call us or link here for more details.
