Chatham Inlet has claimed a few this year as well, be careful boys the cold water is coming. Good fishing to you all.

You gotta know Jupiter to understand..... Skinny to begin with. Heavy tide. Out going it butts up against a sand bar in front of it causeing a pretty nasty standing wave. You gotta skirt around that bar which sets you kind of in the trough. Then on an east or north east wind or when you get storm driven swell (fthat day was from earl) you have moving waves rolling right across the standing ones. So you get a set of holes and spikes that can and do get outrageous.

Thanks for the explanation. I do not know that inlet at all but figured a sand bar had to be involved to make things that nasty. Scary reminder of how powerful the ocean can be even on a beautiful day!
