THE R.I. DEPARTMENT of Environmental Management said last week that a limited number of new commercial fishing licenses will available for 2011.
PROVIDENCE – The R.I. Department of Environmental Management said last week that a limited number of new commercial fishing licenses will available.
Twenty-five new quahog licenses and 12 new soft-shell clam licenses for commercial harvesting will be available as well as three new restricted finfish endorsements, allowing for the commercial harvest of the six species of finfish: summer flounder, scup, striped bass, black sea bass, tautog and winter flounder. Applications should be filed by Feb. 28.
The DEM also said the renewal period for commercial fishing licenses runs from Jan. 1 to Feb. 28; the late fee renewal period, which includes a $200 charge, runs from March 1 through April 29. Licenses may be renewed online at www.dem.ri.gov .
Rhode Island residents may also obtain commercial fishing licenses for other shellfish, non-restricted finfish and non-lobster crustacean without restrictions.
There also seems to be some info here

I have also been looking for a liscence. From what I know you need to buy the whole business and not just the liscence. There are going to be several problems dealing with the DEM as they are in a fight over allocation, vents and by catch right now. Keep looking but I believe you are going to pay atleast 10,000 and that will not have allocation.
