Rep Patrick back at it, tuna this time...Hearing tomorrow (wednesday)

As if we were not dealing with enough BS when it comes to the CITES issue, someone just emailed me telling me that Rep. Patrick, the same guy who is trying to shut down the MA commercial striped bass fishery, is trying to get some bill through regarding bluefin. While I cannot find anything concrete about it online, this is what was emailed to me:

H764 An Act relative to conserving bluefin tuna.

    Summary:
Creates a commission to study the existing bluefin tuna fishery and the interaction of commercial and recreational bluefin fisheries, to promote the viability and restore the population of the species, to examine the economic and biological impacts of various fishing techniques, and analyze historical data of bluefin taken in Massachusetts waters.

The Public Hearing is scheduled tomorrow Wednesday @ Noon before the Joint Committee on Natural Resources.

Given what he has been trying to do with stripers, who knows where this will go. Anyone who is in the area and free at noon should stop by and see how it goes.

John, give me a call on my cell phone after you go there. What is this guy thinking? The last thing we need is our state trying to manage an offshore internationaly regulated pelagic fish. Does he not realize that his jurisdiction only goes out 3 miles. With all the problems we have with our state and economy, this guy has nothing better to do than this crap? WOW. I am headed out to the Worcester Show so I can't be there. Capt. Eric

Kocot !!! He was ahead of me in HS school....amazing who we flippin elect to represent this state!!!

His day consists of rolling out of bed at 10:00 AM, driving 90 miles to Boston, having lunch, then driving 90 miles back home to be home for 4:30 PM so he doesn't miss the 5:00 PM news

You would think he and Deval would car pool to save the state money!!!?????

I contacted Rep Patrick, he said that it someone else who is behind this, and as someone pointed out, it appears to be Rep Kocot. I have been told by multiple people that Patrick was involved, but again, he said he isnt. Either way, the act remains the same and it is something we need to stay on top of. Thanks for the heads up on the date change, magoo! And thanks for going over there incase they did have it today! Good work!
