Windfinder is OK but should be used in concert with NOAA Marine Weather and ideally the weather models themselves. If you can watch the basic Tv weather that is also another good thing to factor in. You want to do what On the Edge said- get as many sources and put them together and then make your prediction.
Only problem with my method is your prediction will only be as good as your own experience. In my case not always accurate![]()
Here in New England the spring and fall weather is toughest. How does the old saying go?
If you dont like the weather wait a minute it will change!!![]()
Agree with 2FinBluna!
I try to surf through like 4-5 sites as I often fish from inshore Gulf of Maine....down thru NH and NWC....
I'm in a small CC too~ gotta pick your days....and always remember to check the forecast....if anything seems sketchy or questionable.....I like to double the forecasted seas~ if I can handle that, I'm going~!
check this link~ its a surfers website from a buddy on mine 'Maine Priority'~ if you like wave periods and streaming wave heights and forecasts
http://magicseaweed.com/
Then this site gets you all around and deep on forecasts and live buoys data~

i think Magic seaweed kinda sucks nothin personal meant, been spotty imo of past and bit bigger or smaller than actual. check this one I like it better myself....
http://www.swellinfo.com/surf-foreca...achusetts.html
and hit Noaa of course, and mull things over a bit. Noaa is such a huge chunk of area...
But hear ya, nothing like being offshore in 3-5, expecting 2-4, and watching swells come in way over height of t-top. getting out of the chatham cut with an outgoing tide and wave inboundnow that can be fun.
nesurf.com is another surfing site that has some links for swell forecasts, beach cams, etc. I'd agree with above that magicseaweed can be off sometimes, but every site can be off...there is no perfect forecast site with all the answers. That's why it's best to check as many as you can as noted by others above. I think checking the buoys before heading out is one of the most valuable pieces of data as it is real time.
