Quick P.E.I Tuna Report...

Well, I quite possibly made the most painful phone call of my life yesterday...I will try to keep the story short.

About 2 weeks ago, I got a request from one of my bosses at my real job to help coordinate and manage a large refinery shutdown "somewhere in Canada." After going through the details, I find out that the job is about 2 hrs South of P.E.I (insta-drool) considering I heard the first two weeks of their season was UNREAL this year. So, after I reluctantly agree to go for a couple of weeks...I call up a guy by the name of "Cpt. Jeff" ; a high-liner out of P.E.I. I get a trip set up for a weekend while I am up there. OH YEAH!!

2 Days before I am about the leave for Giantville/real job, I get a call that I am "needed more" where the actual paperwork and finance is being handled...NOT near Giantville... Sarnia, ON to be exact.

So, yesterday, I call Jeff to be the bearer of bad news (fyi, I called him this late because I figured there still may be a chance of going there). Ring, Jeff answers...I hear him talking in the background, muffle... jnsjdhjadh... 10... muffle... jdashdj...6... FYI, It is catch and release season up there right now, through Sept 30. There next commercial season opens Oct 5th.

"Jeff, it is Bryan Sears, did I just hear you say 10 fish?" YES, they caught and released 10 fish in the 900 lb range on one boat and 6 in that range on his buddies boat. They got 2 fish 115"-120" before 8am in the morning!!!!! Jeff said, they have been averaging 2 fish 600+ pretty much this entire release season.

Needless to say, I began crying, and while blowing snots out of my nose and wiping my tears I told him I couldn't go this weekend anymore...

Anybody that has the time and money, I HIGHLY suggest going. The guys up there have been baiting HUGE schools of these fish with totes of herring and are just pitching baits 5 feet off the transom.

Wish it was me up there right now...Taylor and I are trying to get up for Columbus weekend if they are still fishing...crossing fingers

Landings reports from PEI

If anyone had checked the landings from PEI, they were ridonkulous! Avg.......Avg, fish weight was almost 600 pounds for their 1st half commercial season! It lasted less than 2 weeks before they hit their quota. When the second season opens, it is gonna be a friggin slaughter fest on HUGE fish !! If you boys can make it happen, do whatteva you have to to get it done !!

I am putting together a donation box to hire a bunch of Russian sheep herders to start pushing them to Stellwagen.
