    Quick Atlantis Window

Coordinating work, family , kids, schedules is tough in the fall. But we were able to find a window with nice weather. leave 8am and back to dock at 2am---that was our window as we all had to work the next day. This gives us an afternoon troll and 4hrs of sword fishing time... take what you can get..
We hit the southern shipping lanes and found the 66-74 degree break with lots of life---amazing water----pulled a bunch of nice mahi with casting rods to get the skunk off the boat. Due to our time constraints and the fact we were still 15 miles from the tip of Atlantis decision made to troll the warm water south. We put in 14 miles from the tip in 74 degrees. Nice gaffer mahi on the fliers. NightBite saw a house sized sargassum patch and Reel Pursuit made the call. "Here comes another wahoo bite...."multiple rods go off....Beamish Lydonia Lady was the only one to stay tight---huge blistering run and Pete keeps saying its a wahoo...15 minutes later we boat a huge Wahoo in the 80lb class---what a sweet fish! Work the area again and only mahi.

YFT bite at Atlantis per EndorFin so we put her back on course for Atlantis and arrive to 79 degree water at the tip! Too warm for me but we stuck here now. The west wall was the place for us with skipjack and YFT busting. We ended up piling up into some real nice 60-80lb fish. As the sun begins to lower early we want to maximine our limited sword time so we set out our drift. I re-rigged all my sword gear with circle hooks this year. I put a LP light by the leader and then 3 small deep drop strobes on floss loops 10 feet apart. I try to make it look like an airport runway for the swordies...3rd time this year the deep rod goes off with a classic sword bit and we cant stay tight.... may have to get rid of the circle hooks....Regardless we pull the plug at 10pm and steam home to Falmouth. Incredible break south of the lanes and hot tub water in the canyon. Hope to get another shot. I did hear the YFT nightbite at West Atlantis was smoking so look for some decent reports from there as well. Give me a 2 day trip out there next time as the fish are big and water is better than July.

That thing looks like a zebra with teeth! Let me know when Jon gets the fish diced up.

My 10am appointment rescheduled this morning. Rushed home for nothing.

    Way to go guys!

I'm thinking about a Friday/Saturday trip if I can get the crew thing worked out. Seems everyone has something to do.

I know what they have to do isn't going to be any better than hitting that water.

SWEET!!! Great fish....we had one around the boat at night Sunday. And we had several smoking runoffs with lines cut, before the line was bit through, we could feel tailbeats like tuna. Were these wahoo bites?
