    Problems with Accurate ???

So I will try and keep it short. I wanted to buy a new kick--s spinning reel for fishing in the canyons and the random bft I come across. I went to every know site doing research between Accurate Twin Spin 30H and the big Stella from Shimano. I read many positives and some negatives about both but decided to go with the Accurate because I thought it was more simple in design and frankly much better looking. Well thanks to our good friends Foxw--ds in Ct I came into a little bit of money. Well instead of just going online and buying one from Melton’s, Capt. Harry's, etc... I decided to buy local (with $$$) and support the local guys. Same price and I would always rather give money to someone I can put a face to. Anyway I went to Salt Waters Edge in Middletown, R.I. who I have always had a good relationship and purchased the reel. Well they were out of stock and said it would take two weeks (who cares this was January in R.I. no fishing) Anyway the reel comes in after two weeks and I opened the box and spun the handle a few times and right back in the box it goes. Two more weeks go by and I decide to go buy a custom jigging rod to go with the new beauty. That’s when the sh-t hit the fan. I tried tighten down the drag but regardless of how hard I tried the spool just kept spinning. I took the brand new, still in the box, with no line ever put on the spool reel back down to Salt Waters Edge two and half weeks ago and showed them the problem. After all of us looking at the reel we all determined it was miss machined at the factory. They handled it perfectly like they always do and said a new reel would be done asap. Well NOT by any doing from Salt Waters Edge (nothing but positive things to say about these guys) I still do not have the reel. They have tried their hardest but Accurate seems to be in slow motion. The only thing that I requested during this process was not to get a repaired brand new reel. If the reel had been used or damaged somehow by me that would be one thing but with this being never used I insisted on a completely new reel. I even memorized the serial number just in case. So almost 7 weeks after the original date of purchase and I do not have a working, hell any reel in my garage. What would you do? What should Accurate have done or do? Does anyone have similar experiences with Accurate? What if this was mid season and our seasons only last about 4 months? Am I being unreasonable? So to rambling on. I just thought everyone should know what is going on with a brand new, never used or tampered with Accurate Twin Spin 30H.

In closing, I’m looking for advice and also want people to be aware. I will post the outcome and if positive (that’s is going to be tough at this point unless someone pulls a rabbit out of their a--) will post how Accurate concludes this process.

Once again Salt Waters Edge has done NOTHING wrong and would HIGHLY recommend these guys for anything

I own 4 Accurate reels. All spinning reels. A 12,20,30,and a 50. They are nice looking but they are not very durable. The drag is good. I had my 30 grind gears on a hook set and sent it in to Accurate and they called it "user abuse" and charged me 150 bucks. Spoke to the rep up here in new england and he was a complete boob. Clueless. I asked him a few questions while in the local accurate dealers shop and he was a total dick. I would like to shove the reels up his ass. I have heard many bad stories about customer service. Not a fun company to deal with.
Buyer beware!!!! Shimano and Van Staal on the other hand are great and have wonderful service. JMO......

I would cancel the order and buy a Stella. Hands down a much better reel by far. Capt. Eric

I think I will give them til the end of the day and if no response insist on a Stella. It's just very frustrating as you can imagine. I actually do a lot of fishing with Riptide in the canyons during the year and was well aware he was using Stella but was not aware why he was using them and not Accurate. Probably should have contacted Terry first. Thank you for all the input so far and I will keep u posted.

    Hey guys and more-so JJ2468,

We are in the process of building up a new SR-30. We also have a few calls in to tackle shops that have ordered this model recently to see if we can "borrow" one if that turns out to be the quicker solution. The reel will be overnighted, either way.

I have received calls almost daily from the guys at Saltwater Edge so they are definitely doing their part to get this expedited.

As some people have stated, please feel free to contact us at the factory if you have any questions or problems. We are a small company, but we pride ourselves on our customer service and try to provide the best in the business. Anyone can contact me at 888-222-8372 or matt@accuratefishing.com

    Thanks and tight lines,

    Matt Harper

    UPDATE:

Shipping the reel Overnight from our factory.

Good job Matt. I've always found Accurate to be responsive to any issue I've had and am glad to see they stepped right up to reply.

I am happy to report that Accurate stepped up and did the right thing. The new reel is at the dealer and ready to be picked up. They have inspected the reel and say everything is perfect. I'm happy that this was resolved quickly once I posted I just wish it would have not had to get to that point for things to be expeditied. Once again I stand 100% beyond the dealer Salt Waters Edge and would recommend them for anything.

    Thanks

    J
