Ok, heres a spin off of my last post ( Bluefin @ Night). I got alot of good replies and I thank you all for the good information. Alot was said about the Predawn troll and I can not agree more. If you were not on the bank before 5am last year you went fishless 9 out of 10 times. What was your go to color or lure or bait for the pre dawn bite.

I'll start it off: I had great success with a Black and Purple 13" Squid bar and a Glow Lipstick 13" Stinger with a RED Sword fish Strobe stuck up inside the squid. There I spilled the beans first. Keep the tips coming guys.

I have caught several Giants trolling Ballyhoo up to 1 1/2 hrs. before false dawn in MHC.... I do not see any reason why I would not work up north...

I have also chunked 50-100lb. Bluefin south of Montauk in the dark more than once but it was back in 2000-2002....

Rainbow s.bar w/glow was my #1 killer. It took lots of bigger (for me)ones from 250# to 500#

This doesnt just apply to the predawn troll but in my opinion trolling shell squid in general. Take a tampon and soak it in whatever stinky mix you want and stick it up inside the stinger bait. I dont do it to all the bars but usually the furthest back and I feel like it helps.

That is really cool I never saw anything like that with te strobe light in it. I usually tie a floss loop on my main line the day before so I know where Im going to have my baits the next day in the dark. I guess you will see the light and know where they are at all the time. It sucks trolling in the dark cause you dont get to see the bite. That is the three seconds during the day that I live for. Im standin on the computer chair holding the keyboard typing Im so fired up about this year.
