SAN DIEGO -- A Central California man caught what is considered a world record-breaking tuna while fishing in Mexican waters.

Mike Livingston caught a yellowfin tuna last Tuesday while onboard the Point Loma-based boat Vagabond during an excursion in Mexico.

The crew pulled into San Diego Monday, and the 405-pound fish was placed on a scale for a weigh-in and on display for onlookers.
The previous record was set by a 388-pound yellowfin, caught in 1977.

The International Game Fish Association will have to approve Livingston's catch before making the record official.
