    Porbeagle Tournament?

I thought I read some where that a Porbeagle Shark tournament was going to be held out of Boston some time this month.

Has anyone heard anything about it?

A fako tournament? There aren't half as many guys who've caught them as have claimed to have caught them. That would be a mess...

The last I heard NMFS had them down as a species of concern but as of a month or so ago I believe they were still fishable.

I did some inquiring on them to a few local party boat Captain's and NMFS. No sightings or recent reports here in RI waters. Too bad, it would be nice to get a jump on the shark season rather than waiting till July.

Frank Mundus reported catching them regularly every May off Block Island but that was a long time ago. Much has changed since then.

PORBEAGLES STILL OK THE CATCH RECREATIONAL

As of now it looks like Porbeagles are going to be allowed to be caught recreationally on 2008.
    Porbeagle Tournaments?
Tough call, few years back BBG ran a Beagle and ground fish tournament out of Scituate, it was a good time and the groundfish category was OK but they went a few years without even one Beagle being caught so it fizzled out. Their will not be enough caught to have a decent tournament these days.
