Popped a cherry and landed trophy!

Well I am glad to finally have a fish report for you guys. Maybe this will ease some of the friction lately. Took a new friend and his brother from North Carolina out looking for some fatties today. After making a sh*t ton of live bait yesterday and only able to keep a dozen alive,(again a huge thanks to Capt. Fred of CrimsonTideCharters for the use of his in-deck livewell, I owe him one!) we headed out this a.m. a little later than I wanted to but it is what it is! Made our way to SWC only to find maybe a dozen or so boats spread out nicely, livelined some macks on balloons and within a half hour was really getting beat up by doggies. Pissed that I have 2 baits left I move a little further west where I happen to see a fairly large fleet of boats fishing. Some baits on balloons, some kites, and others trolling through the middle of the mayhem I decide to stop just inside of all the commotion, put one bait out, then the second, and as I'm wriggling my oversized melon out from the loop in the leader that somehow managed to wrap up on my head it happens. Yup, holy crap we're tight. Chinese fire drill boys, this is the real deal. My bud Matt gets all suited up while the fish places all his attention on running to Africa and melt my fingertips on my left hand!! Yeah I know better but I still did it! And then for the next hour or so we go round and round, dancing with the fish. Some large circles and angles with four hundred yards of line out and some real tight angles which I know is tiring the fish right? O.K., now it's time to short pump this *****, C'mon Matt!! I mean, I'm yelling at this virgin, and he's hanging in there! Attaboy I'm thinking. His younger brother Johnathan, is holding his fighting gear from the backside cause we've got some heat on this cow and we're in a little 20 ft. boat. Classic first big fish fight and finally the end is near, I can see color. The beast comes up sharp and quick to grab some air and I sink my new glass handled gaff into her. No guessing here, she's well over 73". Stick the big stainless lifting hook in her and over the rails she comes. Once again I've popped the cherry. Is it wrong that I kinda get off on seeing this happen? No, I didn't think so either. Well guys, there it is. I pulled this one out of my ass cause from what I hear it's been quiet out there the last few days. Hopefully I can get the pics soon to post up. Cathemup boys!
