    Plymouth Canyon 9/3/10

September in Plymouth Canyon always symbolizes the zenith of the fishing season for me, winter is absolutely right around the corner and its almost time to bore holes in frozen tundra of the south shore of massachusetts. Plymouth Canyon luckily is located only a few miles from my vessels berth. I absolutely love fishing the silver marlin in Plymouth Canyon. I always envision my clients smiling as I put out the chandelier of death knowing that most certainly a silver marlin or two will be honing in our offering very soon...September third was no different I had first mate Zach deploying the red and white chandeliers of death at 7:10 am this was after a long 3 mile steam, we found a nice break around power plant ledge, it went from 58 to 61 and it was loaded with silver marlin, geraldo was first to strike and his pair of silver marlin came in teeth gnashing, Zach quickly put these possible record fish in the blue vat of ice and quickly we got the two line spread back out, almost instantly we had a DOUBLE on silver marlin, 3 more in the box and we were off again, again and again the silver marlin kept falling victim to the curtain of death laid before them. Around 830 the radio crackled to life about a possible broomtail tuna bite, we made the decision to run it was going to be the choice that we chose to live and die by for the rest of the trip. We made the long treck from power plant ledge in five fathoms to the 23 fathom hole around browns rip. A quick long spread was deployed and immediately destroyed! Had we found lightening in a bottle? we were soon to find out...This medium sized broomer fought long and hard but in the end it too found the vat of ice and germaine was pumped, we turned and burned redloyed the spread and then nothing for hours...four hours to be exact, we worked the south wall of browns for no joy....we moved up the bank to Clarks and Grady White Channel, still nothing...it was not until the last minutes of the trip, we were starting to worry about fuel that we found them, birds, a nice weed edge and BROOMERS everywhere...we deployed the chandeliers and thanks to Ichabod we got another one and another one, we filled the vat, and then we made the run back at 20 knots ... another trip for the record books...hopefully we will see another one before winter rears its ugly head...
