For those that have trolled using planers for tuna. How far do you trail the lure or bait behind it? I'm guessing 100 feet???

With ballyhoo 75' back.
I THINK ITS USUALLY TWICE THE DICTANCE AS DEPTH???
I run mine bridled inline so I cant adjust it. I have it at 150.
I tried planners fairly extensively back in 2006, thought it was a good idea although I knew of no one using them or anyone who had caught tuna on them. Several trips, learned a few things, used fresh macs--got it down reasonably well--baits ran well/looked good, used a long fluro leader. Ran them at least 100' behind the planer, main line to planner line with a break off elastic--planner hooked up to a 50. Caught nothing, but had no way of knowing whether that meant much. Had one out one day and three bars. 700lber jumped on a bar, put fish in the boat. No more planners.
