    John,

Kids Lacrosse games will keep me out. But on a side note I played my first "competitive" hockey game in 20 years this past Feb at the Pond Hockey Classic on lake winnapasaukee.... It was great. Our team accomplished our main goal. Everyone got to the office on Monday with minimal injuries. We lost every game, but we drank our share of beer and no one got hurt.

    Maz,

It was a pretty cool event. There were about 150 teams of 6 guys. They had about 15 rinks shovelled in the snow. There were about 20 vendor food stands. Two helicopters were giving (selling) helicopter rides.

Then there was the usual snowmobiles, dogs, and a pretty good number of spectators (who were definiately not watching us play...). Each team got 4 games and then there were playoffs.

The only thing that truly sucked was the condition of the ice. We played in the afternoon on the first day. The ice was exactly as you would expect if 8 full grown men played in a small pond area for 8 hours. Huge cracks and chips. Skating backwards was taking your life in your hands. The next morning unfortunately, they watered down the rink we were on without removing all the snow. Ice on top of snow just sucked. They have to find a better way to repair the ice. Not looking for a zambonee sheet, just something that you can stride on without your skate falling into a 2 inch deep rut.

The hotel that hosted the event (or should I say the bar) was nice. Lots of beer drinking. Almost everyone brought a pretty fun attitude. No real rough stuff, no cheap shots. The closest thing to a fight I saw was at one of the girl division games. Pretty funny!!

The "Open Division" was very competitive. I recognized a few ex-hockey east players on those teams.
