Peaked Hill 6/7
Left the dock at 5am headed across the bay in flat calm seas to peaked hill. I was on my brothers boat (Jersey Girl) and it was a trial run for his new 16' Lee outriggers. Set up a 5 rod spread at 6am. Nothing was going on for 2 hours, than at 8:30 the fish finder lit up. We started seeing tuna busting all around us. Right rigger went off – orange floating bar with white/green glow stinger. I strapped into the harness with a Shimano Tiagra 50W. After a 25 min battle my brother stuck the fish. It taped out at 67” to the fork, with a 44” girth. By the time we got the fish in the boat and on ice the bite went dead. Right place at the right time. we were the only boats in sight trolling. There were 3 other boats in the area drifting bait and flying kites. We heard on the radio that most of the fleet was at the SWC of Stelwagon Bank. Back across the bay and at the dock by 12. What an awesome day!

Great Day
Yeah, it was a great day. Greg, to your comment about the conditions, I was suprised because they forecasted SW winds 10-15, gusting to 30 plus with thunderstorms. The plan was to get out early, get a fish and get back early. We stuck to the plan. There was no wind for us and the water was pretty calm until about 1pm. We did not hit any heavy water until we were about 8 miles out of Plymouth on the way back around 130 pm. It was like we hit a wall of wind (easily blowing 20-30) and the seas were kicked up pretty good. Fortunately, my brother and Rob do not mind those conditions and we were able to run up on top of the slop for most of the way in.
Like Bob said, it was the trial run for the new Lee outriggers and they really performed nice. The spread ran great.!! More posts to come.
