Well its that lovely time of year again when we can finally emerge from our winter hibernation and turn the once desolate marinas into busy playgrounds for grown ups. (I loosely call myself a grown up).
Chris, myself and our good friends have put countless hours of work and improvements into Akula over the last month and had the big diesel purring yesterday for the first time this year. We've filled her with TONS of upgrades to make 2011 more productive and comfortable for everyone- Multiple underwater LED lights, new electronics, a different setup in the cockpit to allow us to run 12 rods at once, and a newly installed generator to name a few.
Shes going to be resting back in her slip at Green Harbor Marina in Marshfield Ma tommorow, and after a few more adjusments and tweeking this weekend we are ready to fish.
Our schedual looks like this- Cod, Haddock, and Pollack trips will begin on April 11th,
we will continue groundfishing throughout the year.
Mid May the Bass show up in decent numbers and give us the opportunity to target then for the remainder of the season as well.
The last week of May Is REALLY what I am, and always do look forward to.... TUNA TIME. We are hoping to have a repeat performance of last years tuna season- throughout all of June we rarely came back to the dock without having caught multiple tuna, and continued to hammer them untill our last bite on Dec 12th.
This year we're going to change the pace up a little bit for the month of August. For the Last week of July and throughout nearly all of August we're going to move Akula to her temporary home in Falmouth Harbor and run our overnight Canyon trips from there, saving us 50 miles and two hours of steaming time to hit the deep blue water. Two day Canyon trips will be priced at $3,450.
September will bring us back home to Green harbor to finish out the tuna season on Stellwagen and beyond into December.
If anyone is interested in fishing with us, be sure to give us a call or an email as our weekend trips are starting to sell out, and for those of you who are interested in fishing the Canyons, but cant get a full crew together, post up or give us a call- I am putting together a list of individuals for our shared canyon trips.
Heres to an early spring, and a legendary season- Capt. Fred
