I am not making it a debate of commercial vs recreational as I have several friends who charter or just fish for fun. It is sad to see on this website an others "they are taking our fish," Bag limits are a fact of life as are trip limits and closed areas. As fishermen we should understand this. If you want to pick a fight then look at where the information comes from, that is the science center. I do not see a serious problem with bag limits on haddock, cod etc. 7 fish is plenty for anyone to bring home, maybe you as a captain or mate are not selling the filets but most of your customers are it is a fact.

And yes commercial fishing gillnetting south of new england will be shut down next winter. Also there is a law suit to take all groundlines out of the water. Do I need to continue? I am not looking to start any ridiculous argument over whos fish are whos and who owns what bottom, all I am is saying quit complaining about something that is not going to effect your revenue to the extreme of over 50% loss.

I agree I think it’s total BS, besides most of the times that I’ve been on a charter my total catch vs. the total cost would put the filets in the $5 to $10 per lb range and that’s just breaking even.

    Just my Opinion!

Put it this way. I unload into my company truck and have had people come up and ask if I was interested in buying fillets more than once. SO YEAH it happens its not BS.
