There is not much PLAN 'B' when you are sitting in Duxbury harbor expecting to have bait after calling 4 days in advance and watching bait being handed out to other boats that come into the harbor over an hour later.

I see you are a new guy most of us at SFC especially on this forum NE,CT,RI ETC... keep the bashing to a minimum it is lurkers who do not identify themselves that complain about not getting pogies. If you want to know just for future reference if you monitor channel 69 John will let person number 1 know if he got bait. After that you will have to call again before going to duxbury expecting bait. John will tell you himself the guys who get bait every day or need it to make a living get bait first. This is common for every bait guy. If you show up late or are not in line when he is there your bait may go to someone else. I can tell you I have used every pogie guy to supply me they are only as reliable as the bait. Are you lurking because you may need bait from John someday? Think before you type on SFC it has gotten me in hot water before. You will find you will have better results if you treat people with respect and PM them if you have a problem or confront them face to face using your real name.

John is a class act and is probably the nicest person I have ever met at 4 am. He gives a lot to the people who show him respect and courtesy.
On tuesday he checked with us on the bank before leaving and flipped us a few extra baits.

If your crying about no bait at 7am as he leaves the harbor-

Sorry I am so late to reply, I have been busy fishing, 4 Nice fish caught over the last 2 days all on Macks, 1 for the table.

Hey when I left the harbor at 7 that day it was after already launching at 4:30 from Ply. to Dux. hailing Iron Skippy the whole way to no avail, hanging around becaus I had been told I was on the list. Not a peep. And while they may be quiet enough to not say anything I have 4 PM's from other anglers who have received the same treatment from Mr. Bunar.

Now you may not give a rat's keester but I happen to be a business man, well enough off to have a 2nd home and 26ft boat that I keep in town. Most of my clients know I fish and when they ask I definitely don't tell them to go to Dux. Bait or JB for a charter. Maybe you have enough business that it means nothing to you ......... but maybe not.

I already know at least half dozen of my friends who have booked trips with other guys and none buy from JB, we all go elsewhere... all based on the treatment received! What comes around goes around.

For me I thank you, by making it hard on me you forced me to look for alternatives, and by catching my own bait I figure I have saved close to $1000 by now.

Unfortunately, there is only a tiny spot of pogies in Duxbury Harbor. We will not be catching pogies to sell unless the stock situation changes.

Weekend Warrior - Sorry about your experience trying to purchased from me. The reasons behind the communication issues you experienced have to do with the method of fishing we use and my clustered brain. Part of the reason we are stopping the operation is because it is hard on us to disapoint people. At any rate, I hope you are having a good tuna season.
