NOAA Buoy hits, internet, not boats!
It is clear that all our buoys provide important information to all of us that travel offshore. Take for example the new one. Just yesterday NOAA forecast 1-2 foot seas and when we got out there is was honking 15-21 knots and 3-5s. Taking a read on these moored systems probably deterred some guys from going out and taking an ass beating. Others knew their boat and crew capabilities but still had the facts of conditions before going out. Goes to show the hunter instinct is as big in humans as in pelagics!! I think the uptick in 44066 hits in September is due to the offshore crew looking for the weather windows while the inshore shows a bit of a drop in activity by boaters. Interesting? Counts as follows: Station 44066 web hits August: 34,343 hits September: 39,362 hits Station 44025 web hits August: 177,618 hits September: 161,904 hits Station 44017 web hits August: 120,582 hits September: 110,730 hits |
