They will take as much as they are ALLOWED.
NFMS is to blame as they have the power to regulate it. There shouldnt be laws that allow for bycatch period. The bycatch fish should be harvested and sold and should count against the fishing quota capacity of each longlining vessel regardless of the species. This is nuts
