Scattered being the key word. Nothing consistent. I haven't heard anything that indicates that one area is much better than any another. Hookups and fish caught in random ass places all year.

if they are scattered they are Wicked scattered!
I was out there yesterday with 10 other boats and it was quiet.
Few small pods of bait moving through the slick and not balled up in a panic.

nice enough to pass out for a few with a light wind and no seas to speak of!
but that just means it was dead!

no issues getting macs at the speckled apron/hampton shoal - took a little chum to get them to find you. am was good but I heard from many boat that after 9am they were scattered as well.
long enough in one spot with chum will fill your box.

Spent 2 days, a good ways out to the east. Tuesdays was great all kinds of bait, a hell of a whale show, groundfish galore, some good scratches and 2 hook-ups that were just short of getting the dart. We woke up Wednesday morning full of hope only to tangle the blue dogs all day, no whales or marks. Headed for the barn @ 3pm, 2.5 hour steam & only saw 1 jumper the whole way in, running over top some good grounds. So???? Heading out tomorrow anyway, thinking SErly
