Nice!!!!!
I'm headed to PV in early March. Any info you can share won't fall on deaf ears. Standing by...
Third pic from last?Good story,or what?
Ha, ha,
Can't see the reel but we live lined a cab to one of these brute YFT on a smaller older AVET reel, it worked OK until the fish got close to the boat and then it was game on.
He would come within leader range and then blast off again at MAX Drag, So after 1 hour plus getting my ass kicked we started taking chances.
First mate made a couple long gaff attempts and had the gaff pulled out of his hands.
So Manny the Captain (the guy i'm pulling back in) went on the platform and waited for a chance for a gaff shot, again he reached too far stuck the fish and was being pulled into the drink before I pulled him back again losing the gaff. (The guys are smart enough to make their gaff floaties so we got both back)
At about the 90+ minute mark we horsed him close enough and they stuck him with two gaffs and we got him in kicking and screaming. Was allot of fun.
Can you say "POON HARPOON" oh yes, one is being sent down to Manny soon, that will be the ticket for them as these PV YFT can get up to 300+
Hey Chum,
Yes, Plenty of local intel, my buddy from Boston has a house there, we go 2-3 times a year and I outfit allot of the guys down there for Melton's tackle.
For offshore Tuna and Marlin Manny is one of the best, he runs a very clean 35" Cabo and will go to the fish, they are currently 70 miles out at what they call the Prison Islands (maria islands) he will make the run out and work all day for fish.
We did 12+ hours on our last trip and hit Striped Marlin and 10+ big tuna, could have caught another 10 but day got late and long run back.

Manny has a US number you can reach him on and he speaks very good English

Normally the hot spots are El Banco and Corbetena, two rock formation areas much closer and what makes for a great day but sometimes as now you need to go further.
MOST of the boats will tell you they will go find the fish but will instead wait until they see the first bunch of birds and porpoise working and pull up there and fish the day inside, you may still catch some fish but nothing like the quality you will find outside right now.
They may be inside when you get there which is a bonus.
Once you are close to going email me and I will get you the inside current intel on where the good fish are.
Normal offshore pricing is $1,200-1,500 depending on how far you need to go.
Tip is standard 15-20% same as states, we give all the fish we don't take to the boat so they can make some extra cash and feed big families. We gave the boat over 600Lbs of fish on this last trip.
Let me know if you want inshore info also, by March the bigger Roosters may still be in, right now they are catching them over 50Lbs in close. You can leave from Punta Mita for this fishing which is very close to the fishing.
THE PV marina has dozens of dive to high end restaurants and bars to check out also, I can give you this info also if needed; The marina is only 5 mins from the airport
Downtown PV is only 15 minutes away and rocks, you will be there during spring break so it will be going off.
Mandalas, The Zoo, The Roo and all the tourist bars are all on the Malecon and walking distance to each other.
You will have a blast there, let me know what else you want to know, We may go back down in March also if the fishing is good.
Mucho gracias, amigo!!!!!!!!!!! I'll shoot you a note when it gets closer. It's my first time visiting PV. I can't wait!
