Hello to all. My name is Pete and I have been fishing for about 13 years. My dad and I just purchased a 2004 31 Albemarle, "Fired Up", (just brought it home this past weekend) and needless to say I am excited for the upcoming season and this forum. The only person I have spent more time fishing with other than my dad would be Shoe (shoefish) and I can say first hand he is an all around top notch angler and captain. We are not fussy when it comes to the species we target as long as those species are not fussy with us. We predominantly troll, and are hoping that a little southern charm will warm up our spread this year for the tuna.

I am looking forward to the potential exchange of information and knowledge as well as the comradery that can be developed through S.F.C. The latter I can certainly attest to when Shoe, myself, and another buddy pulled into Buzzards Bay this past Saturday to a warm welcome from Vin and an open slip next to his beauty, "Seaker". Both Vin and his wife showed us the best remedy for a Northeast bow beating blow is a few rum & cokes, a thick chicken parm., and the biggest plate of fried seafood I have ever seen south of Newick's! Thanks again Vin for the hospitality and here's to the rest of the New Englanders out there for adding our perspective to this excellent and diverse forum. Cheers-

I’m zyg. I’ve been a member here for a little while but haven’t posted. Most of my visits were to check out WAHOONBOX’s videos. Great stuff. It’s great to see a New England forum here.

I started out saltwater fishing 20 some years ago after spending the first 20 something chasing trout in the streams of Connecticut. After a few years casting in the surf and off the jetties, the thought that I could catch more fish if I had a boat crossed my mind. So I hauled a 21 center console on its trailer 50 miles to the ramp every fishable weekend for a pile of years. I fished that boat in eastern Long Island, Fishers and Block Island sounds from Niantic to Block and Montauk chasing just about everything that swims there.

In 2003, the years of going out on charter boats for tuna and shark combined with limitations of my small boat and desire to start catching some tuna and shark on my own drove me to the boat I have now. I fish out of Niantic in a Hydra-Sports 2800 WA. The boats’ named “Thunder”, after my wife who frequently fishes with me.

I pick our weather days for trips to the edge now and have the range to hit the area of the dip and Block canyon for day trips. We’ve landed the usual assortment of mahi, sbft, yellowfin, and albacore. We’ve also picked up a nice wahoo and a big-eye tuna over the last few years. The short trips are spent sharking around the 30 fm line or inshore drifting for fluke and bass.

I’m looking forward to the 2007 season. Good luck guys

Dude! It's about time you got hooked up here! Guys this is the genious behind all of the tuna videos that I've ever posted on here. He's the mad professor. He sits in his computer room dreaming up ways to edit new videos. He's a heck of a fisherman and about the best person to have on the boat when the shit starts to hit the fan. My mission this summer to catch he and his father a giant on the new boat.....on the troll.... ....it hasn't been done in our parts for a while, but we're going to try to make it happen this summer.

    Zyg-
Thanks for posting up an intro. It sounds like we'll all be able to benefit from your experiences on here.

I've got to ask though... you're boat is named "thunder"? After your wife? Ummmmmm.... I've got to hear the story behind this one!

Awwwwww shoot. Is that a 'Box inspired sniper rod? If it is, I saw that thing in action in NC and that is BAD ASS. It is deadly. It just plain works.

I appreciate the offer.....you may have to drive up and come out with us to show us how it works sometime

Umm yes and no. As you know all of us northern boys need a lil' work on rigging and just learning the planer setup is another learning curve in itself so the more it gets used the better itll be for all of us.

I am having a friend of my dads built it for me. I told him what I wanted and watched boxes videos over and over again just to see the action. The hardest thing about it was the swivel tip. We talked more about the damn tip then about anything else. I ended up having an aftco big foot swivel on it. For the reel I unfortunately didnt go with the Shimano 80 ended up getting a great deal on a new Penn 80 VSW. Im still just a weekend warrier so its hard w/o a huge budget, (did some side work the last month just to pay for it ) and even harder to find the people as passionate as me up around here.

Now the funny thing is gonna be seeing a 22' cc dragging a bent putt 80, tryin to put out a 5-7 rod spread, rigging some meat and drivin the boat.. Ohh boy!!!!
