Hi all, I'm Dick. I grew up on the South Shore of Boston, Brockton. I spent my summers in Maine camping with my parents. I'm a three shipyarder. I worked at Boson Navy Yard, Portsmouth and Mare Island in California. I retired in 1995 when Mare Island was closed. In California, I fished for Stripers, Sturgeon, American Shad, Salmon and Steelhead, but mostly Stripers and Sturgeon. My biggest Sturgeon was 5 foot 2 inches and about 65 lbs. A fun fish to catch and even better on a dinner plate. All white meat and no bones.
After I retired, we moved East trying to get back home. We had a short stay in Maryland where I fished for Stripers. They're a little confused down there. They call Stripers "Rockfish". Rockfish to me are bottom dwellers that are found in deep waters.
We finally made it home and now live in South Berwick, Maine. It's good to be home but I'm having trouble learning this River and dealing with it's current and finding fish. I find schoolies but no keeper sizes yet and I throw everything at them. I'm learning a lot from these forums and threads.
Dick,
The local knowledge is growing on here every day. I haven't fished the river in a few years but know of a couple spots that I'd be happy to share with you. You're right about the current in the river too- it can get nasty at best.
South Berwick is a nice town- we go up and have brunch at the Red Barn every once in a while.
if you go up to Saco Bay those boys can give you lots of local knowledge on that river and all the way offshore if needed. I am hoping you picked up there seminar last week, a lot of good info.
Just joined the site a couple weeks back. Wife Lisa and I are out of Marblehead MA. Primary target is BFT but we will fish for anything with anything. Just moved up to a Boston Whaler 345 Conquest. In the process of rigging it up and getting ready for the season.
Both Lisa and I have been fishing since we were kids. We met on the water racing sail boats back in 2000. Our honeymoon was fly fishing for bones in Belize. We have a small house with virtually no yard. That means most all of our free time is spent fishing together. Life does not get much better!
My name is Dave and I recently joined the forum. I have been hanging out with RipTide for a couple of years and I'm hoping some of his expertise will rub off on my son and I. He is a great teacher and an even better friend !!
I have been fishing most of my life in and around buzzards Bay, and now it is time to start doing some serious catching.
Our latest fishing machine is a 2007 Hydra Sport 2900 CC with twin 250 ETECS and all of the trappings to make a fisherman want to spend more and more $$$ on fuel in search of the holy grail..... fish !!!!
We enjoy fishing for stipers, blues and especially Tuna. We have been bitten by the Tuna bug big time and we are hooked !!!
My son is also a member here and he goes under the name of Fincrew. Great young man and the real reason that I am doing this.
We look forward to meeting and sharing experiences with other members as the season unfolds.
Best of Luck to each of you as you fish this season.

Welcome to the boards, nice to see another New Englander join the ranks... Capt. Terry is one of the best, and a great guy to boot. Helped me out last year on one of my forays up to CC bay chasing those tuners around. That is one sweet ride you are sporting, love those ETECs. Glad to see another father son duo out there, sharing with your family is what it is all about.
